SYDNEY, Jan 13 AAP - A man who told phone operators his name was Saddam bin Laden andthreatened to blow up a Qantas flight was today released on bail because of a medicalcondition.
Malcolm Arthur Hodgkinson was granted bail despite having three previous convictionsfor similar offences, the last one while free on bail.
Magistrate Andrew George found Hodgkinson was not motivated by irresponsibility ormalice when he made the phone calls, but rather serious cognitive deficiencies causedby head injuries he received in a car accident.
