NSW: Impulse lands its first jet in Sydney
Australia's newest airline has landed a $A60 million aircraft at Sydney airport in
a bid to crack the Sydney-Melbourne flight market.
The 117-seat Boeing 717-200 plane is one of five aircraft leased by Impulse Airlines
to make its mark on the Australian domestic market.
Two more Boeing jets are expected to land in early May, with another two later in the
year, enabling Impulse to expand its operations to the Sydney-Brisbane sector.
Impulse executive chairman GERRY MCGOWAN says the investment in the B717-200s represents
a considerable commitment by Impulse to the development of its first trunk route operations.
Most of the 86 flight attendants required have been recruited and the company's call
centre is scheduled to open in Newcastle next month.
