Fed: Wages rose modestly in November qtr
CANBERRA, Feb 9 AAP - Wage rises were being kept in check, with average earnings barely
reaching $800 per week for the average worker.
Figures out today showed average weekly ordinary earnings in the three months to November
edged up 0.3 per cent to $800.60, after adjusting for seasonal factors.
The modest rise was below expectations and backed the Reserve Bank's comments this
week that labour costs remained moderate and no real threat to inflation.
