NSW:Information sought on shot Sydney couple

SYDNEY, Aug 1 AAP - Police are appealing for information about a Sydney couple shot
dead overnight in their home on Sydney's north shore.

Detectives discovered the bodies of the couple, aged in their mid 50s, at Hornsby about
1am (AEST) on Monday after receiving a phone call.

Police have not ruled out an assisted suicide or murder-suicide and were unable to
comment if the woman had a terminal illness.

A man rang police about an incident but they are unsure if the caller was the man found
dead at the home.

Both died from a single gunshot wound. The woman was found inside a bedroom and the
man in the back yard.

"We do know that in relation to the deceased that a firearm was used and we believe
that was the cause of both people's death," Hornsby Local Area Commander Superintendent
Michael Kenny told reporters on Monday.

No message had been left inside the home and police would not comment if a domestic
argument had taken place before the shooting.

Police have spoken to neighbours but are still seeking information from anyone who
may have witnessed anything related to the incident.

"Anybody with any information in relation to the history of the couple... anybody that
heard anything around 1am this morning, anybody that saw anything around 1am this morning,
we would ask that they come forward," Supt Kenny said.
